Mtagwa makes the second defense of his USBA featherweight title Wednesday, Aug. 2, when he boxes Alvin Brown, of Kansas City, MO, in a scheduled 12-round fight at the New Alhambra in South Philadelphia. The match will be televised live by ESPN 2. Rogers made his first defense June 16 with a fourth-round knockout over Artyom Simonyan, of Glendale, CA, at the New Alhambra. The win raised Mtagwa's records to 20-10-2, 15 K0s, and it should improve is No. 13 world ranking with the IBF. Mtagwa had suffered a severe rib injury in the first round of his scheduled 12-round IBF featherweight eliminator against Mexico's Orlando Salido on March 18 in Evansville IN, and was forced to retire after five rounds. Every time Mtagwa threw a punch he felt a sharp pain in his rib cage and manager Joe Parella decided to stop it after five rounds.
